LEGEND OF BLACK KNIGHTS
The legend of knights evolved from medieval literature. It grew up as
a part of the Middle Ages in which behavior and honor were
distinctive. The knights of old possessed characteristics such as:
bravery, honor, moral purity, loyalty, and chivalry.
The knight was to be brave even when faced with great danger. Students
at WMC are to face difficulties bravely, never giving in when times
get tough. Knights are to hold honor in high esteem. Our students are
taught to be honorable in all that they think and do.
The knight had great pride in his moral purity. WMC students follow
divine instruction to be pure and chaste. Knights of long ago lived by
a code of behavior-chivalry. They have passed down to our students
that code that says we should champion right against injustice and
evil. Students follow the knights' etiquette which causes them to
treat others as they would want to be treated.
Just as the knights had armor for protection, students at WMC are
encouraged to put on the whole armor of God to protect them against
the wiles of the devil. Knights also had a coat of arms to identify
them. Christian students can also be identified because of Christ that
can be seen living in them.
The knights undertook quests to slay dragons or search for relics that
were considered holy. WMC students, in their everyday life, are
facing dragons. They search for those things that are honest, pure,
and holy.
Just as the knights of old longed for home--Camelot, students at WMC
are encouraged to prepare and long for their eternal home--heaven.
The black color absorbs all other colors. The Black Knights of WMC
internalize all of the knightly characteristics in order to
demonstrate the integrity expected of them. They are loyal to a King
greater than Arthur. He is the King of Kings--Jesus.
May they ever wave His banner and devote their lives to His great
cause.
